Day 50: What dreams may come…
Ahhh… Finally another day of rest. I was never one to want to rest and yet I am beginning to relish these days! I woke up wondering what form of rest I would try to explore today…
The day started with a long swim and then strength training. That certainly did not fit the definition of rest and relaxation and so I indulged in a long hot shower, slipped my grey summer robe on, combed through my long wet hair, placed my hair in a twist and secured it with a clip with a couple wavy strands that had escaped and gently touched my cheek. I had decided that getting dressed this morning would be optional at least for now. As I made my way to the kitchen, I felt like a butterfly being led to the sweetest wildflower as I could pick up the aroma of freshly brewed coffee from a room away. I grabbed my favorite coffee cup and poured a in the hot hazelnut coffee. I put just a spot of creamer into it, grabbed the newspaper and made my way to the patio to indulge in the morning’s goodness with the Sun as my protector.
I sat down and quickly opened the newspaper and although I read the articles, none of them seemed to peak any particular interest or have any significant importance to me. I abruptly grabbed the paper, folded it in half and set it aside like I had serious business to attend to. No… instead I took one sip of coffee and inched myself back further in the cushioned patio chair to find just the right place to be. Moving about I placed both hands on the arms of the patio chair, closed my eyes and just listened to what nature had to say…
There in the early warm sun I could hear the aspen leaves shake in the breeze and the birds were singing to each other as in a well-orchestrated music ensemble. Each added their own note and pitch, and then a rustle through the shrubs revealed a family of bunnies scurrying about, not realizing their movements were music to my ears. Even Jet sat still to take in the sounds of the morning glory. Every now and again, I could hear the buzz of a bee fly by. As I sat lost in nature’s symphony I could feel my body become electric with the thoughts I was having… I was slowly slipping away into a place where a list of desires resides. Along with my list of stories to tell and adventures to go on with this Quest, were those desires that I have only shared with my heart and mind. We are here to enjoy life and everything it has to offer and only recently have I given myself permission to truly feel and experience all things in this lifetime. Today, that permission was a ticket to a place I knew existed but have been reluctant to visit. A place that many think about but few truly go to and then share. It’s a place of simple pleasures of the provocative kind.
As I bathed in the sun’s rays my skin began to glisten, so I hiked up my grey summer robe and slid the robe down off my shoulders. I felt a cool breeze brush over my moistened skin, but before I knew it my mind had wandered further from the moment… I couldn’t help but think of a place that felt soothing and wet enough to cool me off…. There I sat thinking about where I would like to be that would have me in a state of bliss. It was then that I gave myself permission to dream a most alluring dream and before I knew it, the state of imagined pleasure began.
I envisioned myself walking back into the house and heading to my bedroom. I turned on Andrea Bocelli’s Liberta on a medium volume and walked into the bathroom. I could see myself turning on the water to the tub and then lighting the vanilla candles that surrounded the bath. With each one lit, I could feel the anticipation increase. I reached for my bottle of lavender bubble bath and poured in the appropriate amount. I noticed immediately how big the bubbles began to grow… Before I knew it, there was no water to be seen just a cover of delicate white foam. I took my hand and slowly bent over to feel the temperature of the bath water. It was warm but not hot, perfect. As I removed my hand a layer of bubbles covered it like a glove. I wiped the bubbles off and untied my rob and slipped it off my shoulders and let it fall to the floor. I caught a glimpse of my body in the mirror and I found myself feeling accepting and pleased at the shape that was in front of me. I took my hands and slid them along my flank to confirm that what I was seeing was indeed real. I could feel the small of my waist and the gentle curve of my hips and my breast fit perfectly in my hand. I was pleased with the definition in my arms but ironically, the list of things I would want to change never came to mind.
At that moment I took my right foot and stepped into the warm and waiting bath water. I felt warmth start at my feet and like a wave move up to my hips with a noticeable sigh as the warm water bathed my lower back. My body up to my rounded shoulders was submerged with my head resting against a towel. I couldn’t help but sigh again with relaxation as the mixed scent of vanilla and lavender put me under an aromatic spell. There I lay in a state of complete comfort, the stresses melted away like an ice cube in the sun and there were no worries to be had….. Just “pure pleasure” being my only goal in this self-fulfilling dream.
I had my blue loofah that rested on the edge of the bath. But decided to lay for a little bit and let my mind be permeated with Bocelli’s Liberta… The song ended and I reached for my loofah and began to methodically massage my arms and indulged in the exfoliating feeling of freshness. I moved to my legs and worked from my ankles to the bend in my knee and then to my inner thigh. I could feel a slight sensation of stimulation as I made circular motions on my inner thigh. I moved the loofah to my tummy and then up to my chest and neck. I had a sensual awareness as I moved the loofah back to my chest and it was obvious that there was an excitability I could not deny. I had given myself permission to use my hands to explore my body in a most purposeful way in order to know what pleased the senses.
As my hands slid over my body I could feel that my skin felt electric with every touch intensifying my feeling of gratification. I could feel my body move in an eager and anticipatory way as my hands examined every delicate yet receptive inch of skin. My breathing began to increase and my heart rate was elevated and it was obvious what was to come… just then, I was jolted from my dreamland to my ringing iphone that sat next to my coffee. My eyes opened in a frantic and flustered surprise and I could feel a moment of letdown as I composed myself and answered the phone.
The phone call ended and I treated it like bad news as I tossed the phone on the table and fell back into my chair. There in front of me was a bunny that gave me an inquisitive look that had me wonder how long he had sat there and what sounds he had witnessed to have such a shocked look in his eyes. I gave him a smile realizing that for the first time, I gave myself permission to live through a dream I had almost made reality in my mind. I was left wet with feelings of euphoria and a sense of freedom from my self-exploration and sensual appreciation.
Today was a rest and relaxation day that allowed my mind to enjoy the pleasure of a dream in the mid- morning sun with nothing on but a summer robe. I allowed my mind to live through a dream that felt very close to reality before the phone call lassoed me back from edge of complete indulgence. Having wet my appetite for more dreams to come… Wondering what tomorrow will bring.
